Logan: A Game of Hearts

The movie Logan has won the plaudits and praise from just about every body who has seen it. Moving away from the typical X-men films, Logan has redefined the way we see superheroes.

With critically acclaimed performances from Hugh Jackman(Wolverene), Patrick Stewart(Charles Xavier) and Daphne Keen(X-23), we shouldnt be overly surprised if Logan becomes the first super hero film to win an oscar for ‘Best Film’.

The movie was just about perfect, so here we bring with us the 3 Heartbreaking, Heartwrenching and Heartwarming scenes from Logan that captured our heart in one way or the other.

******

1. The Dinner.

Wolverene is not known to be a man of emotions, but throughout the film we see the gruff bearded veteran caring for an aeging Charles Xavier. It reaches its culmination when they sit out to eat in a house with a family which had agreed to provide them shelter for the night.

During dinner with the family, Logan and Xavier feel the warmth of a hearth and converse with the family, relishing the security and a bliss they hadnt experienced in years. Along with Laura and Charles, for a few seconds, Logan feels what it is to be a normal family, devoid of other-worldly terrors. And he smiles.

Heartwarming.

2. The Death of the Wolverene.

Yukio from the 2013 Wolverene film, predicted in a scene the death of the clawed mutant.

“You’re on your back, and there’s blood everywhere. You’re holding your own heart in your hand.”

At the end of Logan, the wolverene dies holding his daughter Laura’s hands in his.

Heartbreaking.

3. X.

After the death of her father, Laura delivers an eulogy from a movie she’d seen previously, gazing upon the makeshift grave with a wooden cross. As the young gang of mutants prepare to leave for safe territory, Laura takes one final glance at the deathplace of her father, and comes back. She then tilts the cross into an X, eternally marking him as one of the X-men, and finally bringing down the curtains on the legendary role that Hugh Jackman has been playing for almost 2 decades. This is, without doubt well and truly the end of the Wolverene.

Heartwrenching.
